United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

Especially if it’s a Black car, mind you it would be the only bit of chrome I would have (I am still only think of doing it) otherwise I may be called a hypocrite by a certain member from Bradistan

Black is a great colour when clean but it's a pain trying to keep it that way. Stornoway was always gonna win it for me.

To be honest it's not just the chrome bit I dislike, it's MY11 full stop. Dealer told me last April I could try and hang on for the facelift model but so glad I didn't. It just looks too soft, I love the more aggressive grill on the pre-facelift cars. I prefer how it sticks out to the more flush design of MY11. Just my opinion.

Back on topic, it's a shame about lago grey, nice colour if a bit too dark grey for my taste but still one that will doubtless be missed by customers. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Doc - as a new owner of a MY11 I tend to agree with you on the looks. There's definitely something missing on the current model, the older models have a bit more grunt to their look. Personally, I hung out for the MY11 for the SD4 140Kw motor and I'm very glad I did. Is it worth it, probably not - an XS TD4 is probably the best all round in terms of bang for the buck, but after having a 110Kw Toyota for many years, the extra ooomph is worth it for me.
As for the Stornaway Grey, I'm in two minds. In bright sunshine, it looks "flat" but it get's better in indirect light. The dirt shows up almost as much as black and so too the scratches from offroading (very soft paint on these land rovers!).

So what your trying to say is, I have a Black FL2 and it looks boring and drab, so a bit of chrome will brighten it up, where as if I had bought a sensible colour to start with such as Stornoway or Lago I would not have to be doing this. Whistle

Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Mauritius Blue

Whilst doing a bit of digging regarding the loss of my Lago Grey paint and the core component Xirallic which has caused the problem, I found this article below. Interestingly though, the company is setting up a secondary manufacturing site in Germany which will come online at the end of this year so as not to get caught out with any future mishaps in Japan.

ad210358 - perhaps I didn't explain, I HAVE Stornaway Grey - so speaking from experience, not dreamtime like some. I chose the colour to (a) be as low key as possible in the middle of the bush whilst I'm away from the campsite fishing or surfing (attracting less attention), (b) hides dirt reasonably well and (c) isn't BLOODY HOT like BLACK can be. Chicken has a point!

I simply wouldn't want to waste the dosh and I pay outright for my cars! I mean, whats the point in part exchanging and handing over 8k for something basically the same? I wouldn't have my money very long if I did that everytime. I magine doing that on a flat screen TV after 2 years? I'd be wheeled off to the looney bin.

Guy’s, Guys, I’m just been and individualist, surely I can do what I want, when I want and for no reason after all am an individual. It’s not that I have made a bad decision buying Black, it’s a great colour for the FL2 polish’s up well especially on a Friday night with show room sine and a nice polishing cloth Whistle

Life is all about decisions I mean for example I once had a curly perm (Bad decision Embarassed had the P take out me from the rugby team for ages) I once wore baggy tartan trousers with tucker boots in the early eighties ( not a good look for a then 17 stone prop Forward Embarassed had the P take out me from the rugby team for ages)
I rode my Mountain Bike down the hill for a second time after the best decent ever ( Crashed and burned, broke my left arm, Bad decision and never played rugby again, the rugby lads still take the P)
One positive I meet the wife she was the nurse looking after me (so you could say good decision to go and ride my bike for the day otherwise there would have been no cakes at the recent multi coloured / modded and tow bar equipped FL 2 meet Thumbs Up )
And yes I for the time been y would like a chrome rear end, mind you not too sure about anywhere else, and of course the P will and has been taken, but I don’t care because I am an individualist and do what I please. Now how do I go about getting it fitted without the Mrs Finding out, could say it’s always been there, just that she has never noticed it along with the mirror caps and rear spoiler Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter .

Toeknee, stay away from the chrome, don't let your Rugby pals have the satisfaction of taking the P anymore Laughing

Honestly don't worry about it, its your Freely and has Gunfa's sig, we are all individuals. Thumbs Up
