Ive not seen the book but it would be very easy to take real photos of your own car, step by step photos with a short list of instructions attached to each to each task being undertaken ie before, during & after.
It wouldnt take long to build up then it could be posted on here as there would be no copy right material.
As I have said before, all the service tasks are very easy to do. Then as different tasks have been done they can then be added to build up a more compleate picture.
If every one on here is willing to do this who service there cars then Together we can make our own comprehensive manual. Surely this would be exceptable and be benificial to all who wish to seek it. Thumbs Up

Just a bit of info Whistle

Copyright is automatic - it applies to anything anyone writes - as long as it can be identified as being someones original work.

It basically means you have to have their permission to reproduce or use their work.

The previous poster is correct if someone takes the photos and writes their version of the service instructions that's fine. If they then upload them to the forum - they are thereby giving permission for anyone to use them - the only difficult point is whether that also means permission to reproduce and certainly not reproduce for financial gain.

I fully support the FORUM for not accepting the publication of others material unless they have specifically given their permission. Thumbs Up

I'm sure if we ask nicely Martin would create a 'service instructions' or similar forum area. Wink

After all there is some great knowledge between the forum members and I'm sure there could be a great deal of useful material put together. Alternatively if may just be at home in this topic area. Whistle 2002 Honda VFR800

I agree if some one could put their own work together it would be a great resourse to those that wished to use it

Afterall there are plenty out there now that don't need the service for warranty purposes and this is were the knowledge can start and a how to service section would be a great opener, just not a copied one Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Re Haynes manual for the FL2, I contacted Haynes recently, they informed me that there is not currently a manual published for the FL2, and that there are no plans for one in the forseeable future. Shame....

Well, it's disappointing that we're not going to get a Haynes manual in the foreseeable future, but I'd still recommend the Home Service Manual.

And if you think spending £13.00 on that is too much, then the June issue of Land Rover World has a five page picture feature on doing a 30,000 mile service on your FL2. And you can get that for £4.20! The map is not the territory

No, nothing about wheel bearings. It's routine servicing. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

Copyright

Although quite correct about the copyright rules and agree with the standing NP has taken the front cover on fleabay makes me wonder.

What is the source of the material in the manual, could it be that it was derived from previously copyright material in the 1st place.

Incidentally the listing has ended and shows 10 available 16 sold ? Confused Prog rock is cool! Smile

I think you'll find that was 'more than 10 available' with 16 sold.

It is also still available on ebay....the listing ran out and it has been relisted......that would all seem to be quite standard with items on ebay.
