unbelievable but true no less

Ok this must have been an all time strange question we were asked today.

A middle aged gentleman came into our place and asked who own or was responsible for the public footpath running past our kennels, nothing wrong with that you would think wouldn't you? until you know the reason for the question.
Now hang onto your seats, apparently his father used to play down the footpath as a child and as he was cremated last week his last wish was to have his ashes buried somewhere down the footpath. So this was the son who had travelled down from Glostershire to Walsall West Mids to find out where this place was and see if he could get the permission to bury his dads ashes.

He didn't have the ashes with him this time but had a scout around on the lie of the land and I suppose he will now decide on what to do.

So beat that for a request !!!!!!!! Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

That's a surprising one. Were you able to give him the go ahead?

Having lived here since 1993 I still have no idea who owns the footpath, South Staffs have a section which come here about once a year and do a poor job of cutting back the overgrowth for less than 0.5% of the footpath length but deny they own the path. So trying to inform the poor gent is impossible.

Just had to bring up the ashes Twisted Evil Was it a Mr Strauss by any chance? Razz

A weird request indeed.
Just tell him he can spread the ashes anywhere, just not up-wind to you.

The kennels must be on a 'dead end' road!

When I lived on the Isle of Wight sometimes I had to go to Portsmouth for work. Travelling back one Friday afternoon (the end of a busy week) all the passengers were busy chatting, excited about enjoying the weekend. Then the ferry stopped in the middle of the Spithead, the captain making the most solemn of announcements as to the reason for stopping.
Crying or Very sad

Apparently, someone had requested in their will, that their ashes being scattered at this particular location. The task was completed in absolute silence. To say the rest of the journey was subdued and sombre would be a total understatement. Never forgot the experience and still brings me up with a jolt when I think about it. That must have been over 19 years ago as I left the Island in 1992 Shocked Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!
