Can anybody shed any light on how to remove the auto gear knob (if at all). The button on it is permanently in it does not spring back out. I can get the surround unclipped and pull the gaiter up , & disconnect the wiring loom etc... but not sure after that?? Dealer says its ok to drive, it just means that you don't need to press the button to put in park, reverse etc... |

dealer quoted me £60 for a new knob, cos they don't do the spring as a spare part. so recyled a coil spring and made my own. works a treat again. |

Sorry about thread necromancy, but identical problem happened to me last weekend. I'm tempted to order a double-torsion spring from Lesjofors, but they don't seem to have an identical model: http://catalog.lesjoforsab.com/pdf/en/chapters/104-105_EN.pdf 8859 and 8566 seem to be close Can you shed some light on the replacement spring you decided to use? |

For anyone interested - I've found a company that can produce a suitable replacement spring, in both retail and wholesale quantities.
