Cyprus 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Bosal towbar

Hello everyone,

I am interested to install a towbar and i am interested for the removable one. I called LandRover Cyprus and they said its worth 1200Euro and the best price they can give me is 900Euro.

I think that 900Euro is a lot of money for a towbar so i start looking for aftermarket towbars.

I found a guy that quoted me for 700Euro for installing the Bosal AK6 towbar

Has anyone installed this on its Freelander 2? what is your opinion for this tow bar? Freelander 2 GS TD4, Stornoway Grey, Manual, called BEAST!!!

Looks OK and Bosal is a good make. Just take care that the swivel electrics don't swing close to the exhaust when not in use Thumbs Up

That is still over £600 in UK money so I doubt anyone here would choose it over the more common makes available here at a much cheaper price.
Bosal are renowned for high quality products so I'm sure it will serve you well Thumbs Up but although I'm sure it has passed its rigorous test I don't like what could be a 100kg noseweight pushing down on a vertical locking attachment. Neutral

Can you not import for cheaper Question

This towbar costs a lot of money and i can't understand why!!!

From what i understood the 700Euro quote is for electric installation that will not disable the parking sensors and will not program the ECU with the towing program so i am thinking to reject this offer.

I have been searching to import it by my own from UK but i have the following problems:

1) What should i install regarding the electrics? a bypass relay or the dedicated electric ?
2) I have no idea of how to install this electric cables and where each one connects in order to work correctly. Does our freelander 2 has a fuse ready where i can directly connect the electric socket wires on it? or i need to cut and connect different colored cables?
3) In the end of the day i want the parking sensors to be disabled when reversing and the indicator illuminated on the dashboard (for towing program)
4) I only need the 12N electric socket since i will be towing only my boat trailer. Freelander 2 GS TD4, Stornoway Grey, Manual, called BEAST!!!

Hadjista, there are many discussions on this in the Forum, but basically if you want those things then a dedicated loom is advised. The sockets are already there behind the lights, no fuses to worry about. Any competent auto guy could do it if you import, it's just plug and play.

If you splice into the existing loom you will not have the light and sensor disablement you are after, when you order the dedicated loom you will have the choice of getting 12N, 12S or 13 pin, the choice will be yours.

Hearing that the sockets are already there is very encouraging news Smile ...just plug and play!

Could you please tell me what is the part number for this dedicated Loom?
Also if i install the dedicated loom as you say will give me light and sensor disablement straight away? or i will have to visit the dealer to program this? Freelander 2 GS TD4, Stornoway Grey, Manual, called BEAST!!!
