Have you tried the old faithfull reboot?
Also, most laptops have removable CD drives, try at removing it, and reinserting it.
You could also try and look in device manager (control panel,system,hardware,device manager - usually, or something like this), and see if there is anything with a cross or question mark, and see if a driver re-install might fix it.
If not, I'll try to come up with a couple more ideas
