I've been out on sand quite a few times with Disco 3's. I haven't seen one sink yet. A very impressive car off road, continually able to go places I wouldn't have thought possible.

Chris you need to get out more! That is all!

You are probably right about that anyway. :p

It looks like I am swimming against the tide here ref sinking Discos. I can only speak of the experience I have had/sights I have seen.

Air pressure is everything on sand especially if it is soft. Anything will go down if you don't let the air out of the tyres. Normally need around 18psi but sometimes down as low as 12psi if its really soft deep stuff. That's in Aussie sand anyway Very Happy
To illustrate, some Austrian tourists were bogged in a Toyota Landcruiser out near Lake Eyre (a salt pan rarely any water) in summer time. They tried to walk the 60km to help but one died from heat exhaustion. The local policeman took 15 mins to drive the car out unaided. All he did was let some air out of the tyres. Mike
