Console illumination

I have the XS model with the premium audio unit. With the vehicle lights on and engine running the words like FM/AM/MENU etc illuminate EXCEPT:-

1) The word ENTER, and the up/down icons below; the on/off icon, and triangle icon below volume knob.

2) None of the rear seat controls that are near the floor illuminate neither.

3) Also on the HDC switch lever, none of that illuminates when I switch on the HDC, although the green icons illuminate on the tachometer panel. The 2 icons by the switch do illuminate.

Is this the same as your vehicles please?

Exactly the same on my car

The words can't iluminate as they are printed on to the plastic

You might be able to get some illuminous paint from a craft shop and with a fine brush and a steady hand go over them to help when its dark.

Or provide torches Laughing to those in the rear seat

Hi npinks, that was a quick reply - many thanks. I am pleased that yours and mine are the same.
Although I have just been out to the car again and looking at the words for instance,ENTER and MENU, they look and feel the same, yet only MENU illuminates.

Looking at page 219 of the owners hand book I notice that the parts that do NOT illuminate, do look a little different in the picture to those that do - strange that some words and icons illumate and some don't though.

re my item 3).

Is that the same on yours as well - no illumination on the actual switch, whether the HDC is on or off?

I am really grateful to you, thanks very much for checking your vehicle and sending the pictures.

I no longer need to contact the dealer with what I thought was a fault.

To get the picture to appear in the post you have to have the image locatation on the web,

in my case, copied the location from my Gallery (ie a photo that has been uploaded onto the web off my computer)

you then paste is to the post a reply box you are writing in, Like below

then highlight it, then click The "IMG" button above

[im]https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10408/thumb_camcorder%20136.JPG[/im]

it will look like this but I have edited the text in the [ ] boxes at the start and end should have the word IMG

if i put the G in you would get

this

Hope it helps, you can obviously link to off site pictures as well Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
