winter wipers

Finally winter reached Moscow. TR snow mode works great, but wipers Big Cry

Any body know wipers specs? or manufacturer name who is doing wipers for LR.

Wipers supplied by LR not working below -4C, not wiping but scratching.

Window heater does not help. Freelander 2 HSE i6 Tonga Green

I thought that the heated windscreen would not let icy surface build-up on windscreen. Shocked Are you sure that your heated windscreen works fine?

Crikey -4C and the windows not defrosting. Shocked

Do you have a heated windscreen Question or are you meaning the hot air blowers Question not defrosting the window?

I always makesure all the ice is gone from the windscreen as the rubber is ruined by scraping over the ice.

Heated screen is wonderfull, but wiper blade itself is a problem. Rubber spoiler collect ice quite fast (space between rubber spoiler and plastic blade), blade itself became not flexible and wiper produce noise like knife over glass while wiping.

Spoke to wiper sellers, problem exist with all modern european cars equipped SWF/Valeo (our marked SWF).

Rinco and Trico are much better in winter, but no adapters for unique FL2 wipers Evil or Very Mad . FL2 blades even not exists in retail 2007 SWF catalog. Censored So premium audio can help only Wink Freelander 2 HSE i6 Tonga Green

If there are no adapters already out there to use with the better wipers can you convert them to fit?

Or is there anything that can be done to protect the wipers, or insulate them.

I have to say i am supprised they have failed at such a high temperature (-4C) I thought landrovers were tested down to -40C and then +40C to see that they could cope Exclamation

Hi EM!

sorry for the change of topic, but I was curious to know some more detailed impressions about your driving on snow.
Also are you using winter tyres or the original ones?

Thanks

I guess problem is intensive usage for long time, "water" (melted snow & washing fluid) falling down from windscreen step by step froze again on "aerodynamics " wiper elements, making it as soft as wood. You have to stop, deice it knocking windscreen by wiper and also it is better to keep screen heater on all the time. Typical problem for new cars - retail market is bit late. Focus/mazda owners same problem resolved this year by third parties winter blades. Hope I will find adapters sutable for FL2 soon. Freelander 2 HSE i6 Tonga Green

Tyres are recommended by local dealer - Hakkapelitta 5 SUV. Good. Peoples who hate stubs mostly use Pirelli Ice&Snow.

Impression - you are not fighting with car, just driving. I feel myself so smart choosing FL2.

On higher speeds and cornering you feel little bit rear wheels more pushing than in normal mode, fl2 try to dance, but DSC works fine.
Snow mode is great, you are leaving crosses first just because you go. Freelander 2 HSE i6 Tonga Green

EM , Some questions a) do the wipers work OK in normal rain , b) stupid questions but can you confirm you do not have the transit ( shipping ) protection fitted ( when LR ship cars there a coloured protector on the blades the dealer should take off ). I am interested in your problem would you be able to post a photo of the blade with snow / ice on . Thanks

Reflex Wiper Blades
Product #21-1400-2
Revolutionary flex design leads to continuous even pressure of the blade to your windshield leading to a superior wipe in all weather conditions

Almost all other types of wiper will require manual de-icing
The reflex wipers are new to me but seem good
The rubber enclosed winter wipers are supposed to fit 'all ' brands and will keep you running through -50C and freezing rain 4x4's and skis
