Positive Topic - I am happy with my Freelander 2

There seems to be a couple of comments recently about the old situation where we only hear about problems and not the continuing great results of our FL2's.

So let's see how many "thumbs up" we can get to show those new and prospective owners what these vehicles are all about.

So here goes with the first one (and you can vote in the poll)

Thumbs Up 2002 Honda VFR800
2002 Toyota Celica 140 Silver (mid life crisis - again!)
2007 FL2 GS Manual Army Reconnaissance Green + freel2.com sticker Smile
2004 Toyota Celica 140 Black - Gone
2000 Toyota Celica 140 Silver - Gone
1998 Toyota Celica ST Pearl Green - Gone
1996 Nissan Primera 1.6 - Gone
1994 Rover Montego 1.6 Auto - Gone

Very brave to say nothing has gone wrong yet, rather tempting fate don't you think, I will cast my vote but remain silent otherwise Whistle SD4 Sport LE Firenze Red - no options or modifications yet, but it's early days.

YES

This is my first Freelander, and I find it just great to drive. (08 GS TD4) Being more used to series and defender types, the Freelander feels really stable, very comfortable and smooth! Had just one problem recently, left it in the garage for four days, all locked up and powered down. When I came to start up, the battery was dead! Checked out the battery, and charged up ok. All seems well at the moment.

Ireland 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

The only car I have enjoyed owning more than my Freely was my first ever car, obviously. Very Happy

It's had the odd electrical foible but these have been easily corrected, at no cost.

In fact, when I take ownership of my second Freelander, next week, it will be the first time I have ever bought the same car twice in succession.

The only thing that spoils the experience for me is the nagging possibility of a mortgage sized repair bill, at some point. Why has long term car ownership/maintenance become so ridiculously expensive?!

And what about adding a few "Land Rover" accessories? €800 for roof rails and cross bars; €600 for any sort of fascia trim (added to a GS); €400 for a tow-bar on which to hang a €300 bicycle carrier; €1800 for a SatNav?

It does spoil things for me that I can't afford to have all the toys I'd like... Especially when I have to listen to the neighbour talking about all the inclusive bits and bobs he got on his ghastly X-Trail, and for less money...

On my third land rover, second freelander 2. No problems with any off the freelanders but my disco 3 had to get a whole new engine at 2 1/2 years old. The pain and anger that car caused Evil or Very Mad but I miss it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
