Rusted solid pinion mechanism
The original pinion had rusted solid. With a good dose of WD40 I was able to spring open the "eye glass" retaining clips and remove the original drive shaft. I cleaned this up with a wire brush and greased it liberally. Then I remover the drive shaft from the Fiesta assembly and mated the old drive shaft to the rust free Ford components.
