witter tow bar

Hello I've recently bought a 07 freelander2 complete with a witter R40 towbar. When hitch up its very nose down to the point its a struuggle to spin the jockey wheel round,and theres little clearance for the jockey when driving. I towed this same caravan with a galaxy and everything was fine. The fl2 has a much higher noseweight allowance.The height of the centre of towball is 39cm when car empty.
Anyone had similar problems?

That don't sound right. The Freelander as max nose weight 150kg the tow bar may only be max of 100kg tho it shouldn't be dropping that much. I tow with a nose weight of 90 to 100kg and its dead level. You may need to get the tow bar checked out ie: if it been fitted wrong and sitting to low. If I have time tomorrow I'll check the height of mine and get back to you,in the owners manual its got all the Towbar dimensions apart from tow ball height.

Hello
The snowball max is 150kg max too,im sure its a case of the towbar. being too low to start with and not dropping when hitched up
Its really puzzling me

I have a Witter removable fitted and measured with car empty from floor to centre of the ball it is 44cm, so something is a little amiss on yours and when I last measured it in the summer it was approx 39cm loaded with 85 kg noseweight.

From the floor to centre of the towball on mine it's 45cm I've got the fixed and fitted by the dealer Towbar.

I think I've got a problem with the height of the rear of the car.
When i look at the car there seems to bring a little more clearance on the font wheel arches than the rear(when empty)
I have some warranty that will run out soon so need to get it sorted sooner rather than later

Having parked besides 2 fl2s this weekend I've come to the conclusion my car seems too low when compared (no load)
Can anyone suggest the likely problems? And a rough idea of cost of solutions?
