Car Fail

I think if you look closer it was a car in front and that failed Rolling Eyes

Many years ago I handed in my notice at work the week before going on holiday - the result was they snatched back the company Sierra 2.3 diesel. Yes I know bad planning, but my temper has never been my strong point.

I fitted a towbar to the wifes 1litre Fiat Uno and towed a 4 berth caravan to Tenby in south Wales Exclamation
No idea about towing limits at the time, just had to make sure that the kids had a holiday.

Tried a short stretch of motorway outside Warrington and gave up as the outfit wouldn't maintain 50mph.
Granted we set off at 10pm with the intention of driving through the night while the boys slept - so the A and B roads were empty.
But the upshot of it all was
(a) Gill got a larger car when we got home.
(b) The Uno actually managed a better mpg than the Censored Sierra Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

We were all young and foolish once - Very Happy

Ahh stopping, bearing in mind the van maximum plated weight was 850kg, so it was lighter than the Uno, the first set of lights I came to I stopped hard and late as usuall (some things never change), the coupling didn't have time to collapse so the van brakes didn't apply.

As I was the only one at the lights it probably looked comical as the outfit went through the lights with all the wheels on the Uno locked up - trust me on the inside it was far from comical. The result was for the rest of the trip I had to expect that every light would go red, that every nutter would pull out, lesson learned smoother driving ensured, and braking distance returned to normal.

Actually one of the most pleasant journey towing the van according to SWMBO Shocked Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

how come everything that can be dangerous if used incorrectly gets banned , except caravans. If you really must stay in a temporary accommodation just let the site owner build a static for you rent it and simply drive to it, job done. Or caravans should be built as a roll on/off skip type thing so a professional driver with a suitable small truck could transport it for you and drop it off in remote location (with full electric water a bathroom facilities oddly already built there Rolling Eyes )

Firstly yes I am having a bad day, actually a bad five days with high fever, uncontrable shivering, lack of sleep and the Censored

But all the anti caravan drivel on a forum for a excellent car which just so happens to be a fantastic tow car which obviously will get talked about just like off roading as owners want to know it's capabilities

Anyway it's become Censored Boring, so much as I have found myself on the sister sites and other forums reading those to while away my days at home in bed or on the sofa

I suppose I could just ignore it and not bother reading it, but I guess I read too much Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
