Wing Mirror Problem

I posted on another thread this week about a noise from the passenger mirror, when going in it sticks and there is a horrible motor grinding noise,if i push it it carries on sticks again so i give it another push and it folds in.The motor noise sometimes carries on until i unlock it.I posted that WD40 stopped it which it did but now its back.I have removed the plastic cover you can see if you push the mirror forward cleaned the electrical connector and packed it with grease but its still doing it,anyone any ideas ? Or could i make the mirrors stay out when locking which isn't ideal but better than the motor grinding away, thanks guys.

According to the manual it is a Dealer adjustment to stop the mirrors folding on locking.

WD40 only provides a temporary fix as it is primarily a water repellent, better to use a silicon spray which will lubricate. Grease might be providing too much resistance.

If all else fails, Dan at Duckworth Parts was doing a special deal on standard plastic passenger side door mirrors, not sure if he still is.

I did use silicon spray a couple of days after the WD it was ok for a while after that, the mirror seems really free to move i think its a motor problem.

If it's the motor it's probably cheaper to replace the whole unit rather than try and repair the motor.

Duckworth Parts had a couple of left hand side mirror assemblies available in August at a special price of £50.00 with free P&P for forum members. Just noticed yours is an HSE in which case the cheap deal mirror assembly might not be suitable but still worth giving Duckworth Parts a call if you decide to go down the replacement route.

Instructions on how to replace the assembly are available on the forum. Basically remove the door car, undo old mirror, undo connector and fit new mirror. Only slight issue I had doing it was that you need a Torx screwdriver for one of the screws on the mirror assembly.
