England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Stornoway Grey
USING INDEPENDANTS FOR SERVICE

hiya all .. can anyone advise me about a servicing issue.
i'VE just got a 2010 GS auto (2 weeks on friday) .. mmmmmm lovley car .. now has done 16000ml due it's second service in jan 2012.
L/R quote me about £400 + vat .. An independant in Leeds (green oval) said about 1/2 that price.

2 things if anyone can tell me....

1. If using an independant what happens to the other stuff LR should check....
paint and bodywork and upgrades and plug in computer things..that i guess should be checked as part of the standard warrentee ?
will i needs to go to LR to do these things ?

and 2. anyone had dealings with this company .. GREEN OVAL ?

THANKS IN ANTICIPATION GUYS...
love this site...all the stuff i've sofar read....seems to be a lot of knowledgable guys here
even if some of them are from yorkshire.....

Oh yer .. have spent the last 2 evenings reading about the addition of 2T oil ..
am gonna look for a bottle of it today...

thanks derryk Thumbs Up

albeit that i didn't take GreenOval up on his quotation (a friend did my work required for the cost of a Chinese)

I found him very good in what was quoted and the advice given on what other parts needed to be done, which in his opinion didn't need doing, which is good, as i bet a lot of garages wouldn't have been so honest

Some garage have the computer system to read faults and i 'think' provide updates, but i'm not 100% on the latter

I still believe that you would need to have LR inspect the car to maintain the paintwork warranty and this would incur a charge from them in doing so Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
