Now I know this is a scam, but are there really people out there stupid enough to fall for these things?

This is massively common here in Australia on our (I think) largest car selling website Carsales.

When I sold my old car, I got a few calls from people overseas who were insistant that they needed my specific car, didn't need to see it and would deposit the money in my account before sending a shipping company to collect it.

Sounded too good to be true so it obviously was! 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

sadly these are scams and surprising how many people fall for them. My wife used to work in a bank and the number of people that had sold a car to a shipping company and received a cheque far more than the car was worth only to find it a rubber one when they rolled into the bank !
One guy sold his car for 6K when it was worth 4K and was chatting to my wife saying how chuffed he was only for my wife to have to break that bad news to him !

The giveaway to the scam is the word "shipping", not generally used in the UK
