Electric front seats have movement... any solutions?

In 2 weeks I have an appointment with the BeNeLux importer to check the driver seat. There seems to be some play and it get annoying if one is driving in the city.

Friday I went to the dealer's and they tried to fix (tighten) it but it didn't work. We checked all the cars in the showroom, all new freelanders, and all cars with electric seats seem to have this issue, even when new. The manual seats were rock solid.

Does anyone else with electric seats experience this or did anyone else got a permanant fix done for this?

PS I experienced it also with the passenger seat but they seem to have been able to fix that... for now.

All I can say is Wow Shocked
That is the most unengineering way to get rid of 'free play'. For something that is meant to be parallel but has play, they put a deliberate twist on it, yes it will work but has also stressed the parts.

I'm gonne see what they have to say and only show this solution as a last resort. Maybe get a new seat out of it Twisted Evil.

I tought they would have resolved the issue by now with a new rail or something. This issue dates back to the first ones (2006) and is still there in the new MY2011. I mean, the dealer has 2 brand spancking new FL2s with autochairs and they both have the same issue. that's 5 years to come up with a solution.

Is that not a safety issue either?

I would be of that opinion, and certainly would not accept any free movement of a car seat along its movement track.

No matter, if you will put a new seat/base, it is written in the document, it will also soon develop a small rock.
I also had a small rock and I've done the operation in the driveway, one day when I remembered about it and I had some free spare time. I didn't bother to go to dealer, because the time to do it is the time for one way trip to dealer.
Very easy and quick to do, with proper tools.
And I didn't turn 13 times as in the documentation, I only turned about 7. So the offset/twist between left and right is about 2.5-3 mm, so among tolerances I say.
And later I've saw that I've turned anticlockwise, not clockwise as in document. But it didn't matter, it solved the problem.

Mine dont have any play and are all electric. I would guess it depends how much of a fat belly jones you are though.

Since I can move it by hand I guess I'm not that big yet so friction will keep it in place. Though the wife disputes my not beying that big yet, I now have an argument to the contrary Very Happy
