Updated reliability stats this month.

As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone.

The problem with this site is that the data it gathers is statistically invalid and misleading. Add to it by all means but don't rely on it for a true status as to the reliability of any vehicle they mention. It's fundamentally flawed from the outset.

Looks like a nice little earner though!!!!!

We've updated the results for the LR2 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.

With a repair frequency of 83 repairs per 100 cars per year, the 2008 LR2 is about average. Much lower repair frequency than the 2005-2006 LR3 (no stat for newer years yet).

We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise results and cover all model years.

We've updated the results for the LR2 to include owner experiences through March 31, 2011.

With a repair frequency of 131 repairs per 100 cars per year, the 2008 LR2 is now worse than average.

We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise results and cover all model years.

I created an account in 2009 and never updated it again. which I presume more people do.

What is reliability? I fixed the mesh on my sunroof. Is this an incident worth taking in account?
What do you do with an accident? Any fixes afterwards can or cannot be related to it.
People who go off-road often, what do you do with that? Car gets more strain then others...

Very difficult to evaluate only simple data.
That's why I never updated my car again. couldn't be bothered.

If you want an objective parameter, look at resale value and amount of 2nd hand offers. The more expensive and rare the better.

Based on that the FL2 looks average to me.
Take in account the fact that LR may have a premium status (= less buyers) and still suffers an somewhat ambiuous reliability reputation the FL2 doesn't seem to be a bad car.
If I consider my own car, except from some nitpicking on my part (as the car is under warranty), I evaluate te FL2 as good.

Only issue is that the dealers are to professional, which means they don't ever feel guilty and want to show a good will gesture. Everything seems to come at a price. Which makes it somewhat of in inpersonal experience.
It also means thet apparently the mechanics are not invested into the business and just do their job.

for example: Have to go back for the 4th time becouse they cannot seem to get my wipers aligned properly. A smaller dealer would make sure the 2nd time they are. This annoys me somewhat.

smaller dealers are most of the time mechanics themselves so personel can't blow up smoke up their ass.

In my opinion the problem with surveys such as this as they attract the negative comments but the majority who have positive views don't bother to respond.
Having owned 2 Freelander 2's and been happy with both, I haven't bothered to add my views to this survey nor do I intend to. My experience of the vehicles and those views of other owners i meet on a regular basis do not reflect the findings of this survey.

Sorry, a little late, but I wanted to give my 2 cents...

There is no need to respond...
The figure is the number of trips (with problems) to dealer per year per 100 cars.
Problems/Year/100 Cars.
So the more you enrole, the more accurate info it will be and the less the figure it will be.
The less you mention a problem, the less the figure it will be. Lower is better.
If you just enrole and don't report a problem at all, your car will lower the figure as being one without problems among those 100 cars.
If you had participated in this survey you've saw that you don't need to do anything if you don't have problems.
The ones with problems will increase the figure, the ones without problems, just by doing nothing it will lower the figure.
It's a very clever made survey, in my opinion.
