Could be a pulley bearing either on the drive or the compressor. Similar thing happened to mine, sounded like a helicopter landing. All mechanical parts of the aircon system replaced, thankfully under warranty. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !! |

Yes a bit like a helicopter, it sounds expensive, mine is well out of warranty! Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

Sounds as if the clutch on the aircon pump is dying - mine failed at 18 months (10K ish).

Well it is the air conditioning compressor, question is should it not last longer than 4 and a bit years? Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

I for one would like them to last longer, after having them fail on the last three vehicles. - all under 3 years old.
