Ok, re:meeting I was going to go A66/M6, but I'm happy to meet over on the east side for breakky then head A1/M62?
I lived in Liverpool for 3 years and regularly drove past halewood, even knew a Police Horse called Jaguar (named in honour of x type)... But I'm certain to get lost by myself!
Are we having a group freely photo? If so then I'd better start bathing Lloyd now- he's covered in poopy mud!

I have been looking for somewhere that we can congregate for a group photo. Not sure we will get one at Halewood.
Have a look at "Speke Hall" on google maps, they appear to have a large grass car park, which, I imagine on a Friday morning in October will be quiet.
If you think it is a good idea for a pic let me know and I will go and have a look, it is 5 mins from Halewood LRE, so not out of the way. Thumbs Up

Taz,
that's a really good idea! Alternatively, who was it on the forum that Danielle took such a shine to? Perhaps they could give her a ring and ask in their nicest flirtaceous voice if we could have pic somewhere at halewood. I seem to recall the place is HUGE!

Good idea Taz, Speke Hall looks to be uncontrolled unlike some of the NT car parks. Have to decide if the photo shoot and 'cake stall' is before or after the visit, I believe in a previous post toeknee mentioned after but if not I'll leave a little earlier.

EDIT: October 14th sunset time is 6.09pm so if we don't finish at Halewood until 5.00pm, time we get out and over to Speke Hall carpark it will start to be getting dark. Perhaps a suggestion of a morning meet at 11.00am in Speke Hall National Trust carpark if Taz comes back and says it looks good Question
Plus the Hall opens at 11.00am and shuts at 5.00pm and there may be a gate that they shut barring access to the carpark.

Definately before, the traffic will not be pretty when we finish and Friday night some of you have a fair journey.
It will also ensure we are all there on time, 11:00 would be good, most of the journey will be done just after the rush hour.
There are roadworks on the M62 around Manchester, I imagine that will be the biggest problem, if anyone can avoid that you may save yourselves some grief.
Once you are beyond Manchester the road will quieten towards Liverpool, it is all motorway and dual carriageway around Halewood.
I will go to Speke Hall one day and have a nosey around, possibly this Friday as I can combine it with a client visit.

Been on the Speke Hall website - they open at 11:00hrs.

Re M62 Manchester. Your commets are of great interest as we have to run up to the Lake District afterwards to visit some more farmers and I'd like to be there before dark so that my ladies get a good, first time, look at the lake district on the way in. I had planned leaving Halewood and then M62 to J10/M6 J23 and run up to the Kendal exit.

Given your local experience of the roads/traffic volumes/works n diversions what's the best plan for the Friday evening - alternative M57/M58 or is that just asking for more trouble Question

Friday evening your best bet is back down the 62 and North on the M6, you won't reach the roadworks around Manchester.

If you have Google maps, you should be able to tick the traffic box and it will show you real time traffic speeds using colours on the roads, have a look at these maps at the times you will be travelling a week or two beforehand, you can often gauge which will be a better route. I have a TomTom with IQ routes, it sends me different ways at different times of day, that seems to work OK too.

I think it may be dark when you get to the lakes, depending on the weather, sometimes it is good just to throw back the curtains and wait for the gasp Very Happy

Thanks Taztastic
I don't have a Tom Tom etc (never had such a device on car or motorbike) -and her Ladyship's FL2 has only the standard factory fitted SatNav so we'll have to rely on sight n sound - beeping horns n nose-to-tail. Oh well, first the pleasure then the pain of the day.

No idea at the present, there is a Little Chef just off the A5 near Johnstown, Captain Worm if my memory has signed up so he may want to tag along with the Southern Group. Thumbs Up

I'm up for that, just outside Ruabon. Greasy breakfast? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

So looks like Taz Thumbs Up has found us a venue to meet pre convoy in to Halewood, i love it when a plan comes together

Please note the baking of cakes / scones is not compulsory for our meet ups, this has been something of an "in joke" amongst a few members who took part in the official first meet of the NE Members (although we did have a representative join us from the South) and seems to have grown in to the legend that Scones and Ginger cakes are requirement of any meet.

So just come along enjoy the day and if you happen to bring along some consumable food that you wish to share with everyone that's fine and if you don't that's ok as well.

Cheers
Tony

So what that really means is, CG is not coming so no scones. Sad But you could always have a quiet word with the head of the house, we don't need CG, just Mrs CG's scones.
Also you are also saying, you have got on the wrong side of Mrs Toeknee and Mrs Toeknee has refused to bake Whistle
