Ongoing search for an F2 - Oil leaks

HI all

Just looked at 2 F2's today and both had oil coming from the joint between the air filter pipe (in the middle of the engine bay at the top) and the turbo.
Is this normal or common?

ALso the second one had a further bigger leak on the same pipe down the left hand side of the engine. I'm guessing theres no leak in the pipe at that point, but something must be leaking on to it?

Walk away or haggle?

Ps
My wife owns an F2 and it has a spotless engine bay with sealeant applied (at last service) to that top air hose where the joint is.

I have the same problem. See my post on 18/6. As far as I can gather, is it normal to have oil in these hoses.
What one should try to do, is to seal the joints and make sure the hoseclamps are tight to prevent it leaking.
Apparantly not serious, appart from the mess when it leaks.

Cheers

Thanks Dup!

SInce neither garage has been able to produce a complete service history since saturday despite assurances to the contrary, I have decided to walk from these two..
Good to know the leaks though are pretty common!

Also check out this link.
It explains exactly what the problem is.

Its possibly the EGR valve.

Intake air temperature from warmer countries is obviously much higher than in your colder countries.
So maybe different temperature regime implies different material's expansion, softening, etc...
The probablility to develop a leak is much lower in your case.
Not the case of blocked PCV valves, though... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hi all thanks for the replies

a further item to check when purchasing an older model to check the manual and its clutch

Insist on a motorway drive over 20 miles as part of the test drive, make sure you do this at least 5 times over the journey, get it up to 110 kph in sixth and floor the pedal.
If the clutch is near terminal it will show here with the rev's disconnecting, for just a few moments, from the speed of the car.

This car had no slip at all in any other gear.

I nearly finally got one over the weekend only for it to fail this test. Shocked

It's normally not te clutch at fault, but the dual mass flywheel.
The symtoms are the same as a sliping clutch. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
