United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame
Caspian Blue

Has anyone any good idea of what this looks like yet?

The german brochure makes it look quite a bright, bold blue, but when I saw the colour swatch in my dealers it just looked dark and almost identical to the Baltic Blue, though I guess that must have been down to the lighting.

Where other car manufacturers have had a Caspian Blue it seems to range from a dark blue (1960's Fords) to a bright blue (Triumph motorcycles). Doesn't seem to be much prospect of LR updating the web site anytime soon, it's still showing Tambora Flame which hasn't been available to order for a couple of months now.

So to those of you who've actually ordered a Caspian Blue, what are you expecting?

If it's the same as the "old" LR Caspian Blue (from the mid-80's) that I think is what is being referenced here:

http://www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk/chart2.html

then I really can't see the point as it doesn't appear to be that much different from Baltic Blue. Still, I suppose they do also have TWO blacks available (yes I know one is metallic).

Come on LR, give us some more "fun" colours!!!

I've posted some pictures provided by VIKING of the Caspian Blue colour swatch (next to Baltic Blue, Stornoway Grey and Sumatra Black) in my gallery.

I think it was better the CAIRNS BLUE from 05MY freelander1.

Absolutely I prefer the BALTIC, at less in that color plate. Let’s see on the car!
I am curious, why are you interested on new colors? What color is yours?
Gray, orange; I am confused with your pictures at the gallery. Yuri

Not sure I'm with you there NF. Rolling Eyes

I reckon Caspian Blue looks decidely more interesting than Baltic Blue which can look almost black in poor light. I have a vague recollection of Range Rovers being offered in a similar colour a while back. Either way, I would have ordered Caspian Blue had it been available in May.

I do agree we could do with a few more bright colours in the FL2 range. Car sales execs always seems to discourage buying bright colours, but some of us prefer them!!

FL2 Disco`s and RR seem to look good in a wider range of colours than almost any other brand of vehicle. ..not sure why ,i would never have gone for Tonga green with any other brand almost went for Tambora flame ! but chickened out.

You prefer bright colours ?.....Stornoway Grey ? Confused

bright colours?

Yes G69 ... I DO prefer bright colours, but there really weren't any in the range I had to chose from in May. Even the red is sort of dullish. So I chose Stornaway Grey cos it at least looked good in a variety of light conditions, and doesn't show the dirt like black. I nearly went for white, maybe light rather than bright, but chickened out. Tambora Flame looked great in good showroom lighting, but much less so in some lights when it almost looked gold.

Sooooooo ... a bright blue and red would be good additions to the range I reckon. Thumbs Up

I agree about the blue not so sure about the red and the white mmmmmmmmmmmm ok for the Arctic landscapes Shocked

Dark colours do show the grime but one of the many great things about the FL2 it looks great clean or muddy
Thumbs Up

Was just wondering when it was looking that I might end up having to replace my poorly Tambora Flame, as ithe colour's no longer available to order so I was wondering what colour I would go for as an alternative. Happy to say, looks like it's going to pull through so not an issue.

The silver FL2 in my gallery is a Land Rover Experience one.

Re: Caspian Blue

Caspian blue is very light metallic blue. A seasonal colour at land rover. Limited like tambora flame. Jaguar colour also blue prism.

Have you seen Caspian Blue? If not, go into Night Fox'es gallery and see it there.

Caspian blue is NOT a very light metallic blue. It is rather on the darker side, but I think it is more precise to say it is a DEEPER blue metallic, -a little bit on the darker side.

Wow, I am looking forward to get my Caspian Blue FL2 in December. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

Caspian is a vibrant blue. Much lighter than baltic blue. Sorry 4 the confusion. Hard to describe. Much like the blue headers on this forum Live your life be free-lander

The local dealer,Morrison's Land Rover, have one on the demo fleet and one in the showroom, it's a lovely colour
and very similar to the Atlantis Blue/Green that they used on the 50th Anniversary Land Rovers from 1998. It even changes colour from Green to Blue as you walk round it like those cars did. Today the cars that i saw in Caspian both looked very dark bluey green in the sunshine in Central Scotland How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
