A reason for not using some of the "hang-on" cycle racks which leave parts of the rack and bikes inside the arc of the wiper.

back on topic, I assume you must have your front wipers on for the rear to switch on with reverse as it would be the only indication of rain

yes if there is rain on the screen the rear wiper operates when you select reverse At work
