We're driving to Northern Spain through France tomorrow. (Yay). When I bought my FL2 in February I could have sworn I had Continental compliant number plates. Looked out the window yesterday and realised that they weren't (stand aside for usual ribald rhetoric). Anyway, yesterday I got some made at Halfrauds (more ribald comments?). It was then I realised you need a special tool to replace the front plate. (I'm aware it's not necesaary to change the front to be compliant but I have the damn thing now!)

Yep - got all that. PM - the rear one is sorted which is why there is no real panic... just the frustration of having a nice new plate in the living room MacP - I believe you're correct Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter! Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto MY08 - Santorini black |

Could be the anti theft screws, the type were the only screw in and can't be unscrewed due to shape of screw head Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

No screws at all! Just two small slots each end of a retaining aperture, the aperture being a frame slightly smaller than the number plate. Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter! Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto MY08 - Santorini black |

I didn't think you had to have "compliant" plates, as sticker on the back will do?

Yeah - I know. You're right Paul. I've had one of those magnetic thingies before ~ less than enamoured with them... so easily knicked. Plus, I had it fixed in my head the car already had compliant plates. The mind and brain then went on an early vacation (You know? It should have them so it's gonna get some!) Assume you're OK for headlight adjustment as well? I don't have the clever posh xenon headlights that adjust, and every type of mask I've tried so far has fallen off sooner or later. I now cut a whole strip of black plastic masks out of a roll of fablon and replace them as and when they disappear. Strongly suspect the dastardly foreign children of pulling them off when I'm not looking. |
