Diplomatic help needed.

I've got a neighbour who's really into his cars and he was really complimentary about the RS when it first arrived.

Up until this morning he's owned a quick Seat something-or-other and I see he's out on his drive cleaning a new BMW 1 Series that must have only arrived yesterday. Now, here is my problem - he's a nice guy and we usually have a chat and I'm going to have to make a comment about the new car. Now, even with a I car I don't like, there's normally something positive you can say about it; I even managed to be polite about a Kia Picanto that someone I used to know traded their MINI for. However, this is a 1 Series - what can I possibly say that's nice about it and preserve any sense of integrity?! Rolling Eyes

It's black, by the way. At least it should be easier to find after it's got stuck in the snow.... Laughing

if it's a diesel tell him you've heard the mpg is awesome.

if it's a petrol you've heard it's pretty smooth.

A good plan, with one flaw; I took out a 520d touring for a test drive before I tried the Freelander and I was amazed to find it averaged 32mpg against a claimed 55.4mpg. I guess it's a case of being very clever at building a car to perform brilliantly under the conditions of the formal test and little else! Rolling Eyes

Also check to see if his indicators work as most BMW drivers fail to use them!

Yes, and besides that, no matters what others think, matters what the owner thinks.
So ask him why he choosed it and needle/sew from there...
