Innocent question but as the LR2 is primarily a front wheel drive car unless road conditions trigger 4wd, how does it handle any different on a wet road? Country A road for example, if I go into a bend too fast in the wet on decent tyres will the 4wd kick in and help me? I suspect not, tho the other electronic gizmos will! All the abbreviation's.... The trouble with the 2.0TDCi Mondeo, when the turbo kicks in the power gets delivered violently so that the throttle needs to be used with respect. The Freelander in comparison has a nice smooth power increase probably helped by the terrain response program, Remember there are never problems, just new challenges |

I have read that the weight reduction is 75kg. Given that an average bloke of, say, 15 stone = 95kg and it's a 4-seater, the tare weight seems to me to be almost a side issue ... Brian MY11 FL2 SD4 GS Extras to same spec as XS apart from the Satnav, plus Xenons. Ipenema Sand, Ebony. |

I was advised on here once that the rear wheels are driven but the power split is biased towards the front wheels. I was also advised that if the rain is really bad with a lot of standing water, it is better to put the TR dial into GGS mode as this splits the power 50:50. On the road the car is 95% front wheel drive, hence my previous post. An earlier thread exposed the reasons why Terrain response should not be used on tarmac unless in snow/ice. I think it was Alex who explained why in detail......... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
