Hi, I am getting a new FL2 next week.I want to put a pair of yellow fog lamps on the vehicle.I am using a Merc at the moment and have found the standard white fogs to be of no help in thick fog.I am wondering if I need to put an extra switch and if it it can interfere with the warranty. Is there anyone with an experience in this regard. In this forum I haven't seen any vehicles with yellow fogs.I guess it is banned in UK. Your reply is highly appreciated.Cheers |

Totally agree with you colinrr - it's a shame that you can't adapt the fog lights to driving lights, make much more sense in my opinion. Having said that, perhaps it can be done? |

You don't need to have the headlamps on in order to turn the fog lights on. The light switch has 4 positions: off - side lamps - head lamps - auto. The fog lights works with all positions, minus OFF obviously. (And Auto when it's daylight) So, you just need to turn on the side lamps - first position after OFF. No need to switch to head lamps. And side lamps, for sure, don't impair your vision during fog. Just try it... |

Thanks Alex. Yes, they will work with just side lights. I'll have to wait for some fog to try them. I assumed they were like of lot of modern cars where you had to have headlamps switched on with them. Front Fog lights if correctly wired should be able to be switched on when any front lights are activated, Sides, Full and Dipped, however it is the rears that are wired so they only come on with the minimum of hving Dipped Beam activated, but my feeling is the rears should be on a speed sensing switch, then this would stop the drivers who have them on dazzling you when they pass you doing 80mph, why if they feel that conditions are so bad they need rear fogs on yet they are doing 80 40mph and then they should deactivate, who do they think is going to be stupid enough to rear end them when they are doing 70+ |

I fully agree. In the UK it is an offence to use them in other than seriously reduced visibilty. Although this is not defined in law, guidance has indicated that it means less than 200 feet (Approx 60m). Like many aspects of traffic law, there is very little way of enforcing it.
