Living in UK

I would like to take my car to the UK for a year.
Can I stay for a year without registering car if I am working in Latvia too and it is a leasing car?
If not, what should I do ?
Question

I'm not sure but I seem to recall that after 1 year somebody with an foreign driving has to then apply for a UK licence, but I think this is for people who live here, not sure how it effects someone on a years contract

I presume you would have to speak to your insurance company to see if they'll cover you for been abroad for a year Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I am a Greek national living here for 15 years, I have been driving for 13 of those. I am a EU citizen and I am not required by law to have a UK licence. It is only non EU licence holders who need to get a UK licence.

This site is quite helpful but doesn't totally answer your question. I think I read somewhere that you need to take the vehicle out of the country every six months.

Here you are: technically you may only use your vehicle here for six months in any 12 month period. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Buyin...G_10014623

I have no idea whether anyone would actually check this.
Edit: just noticed the date of post. probably this is a little out of date for you!
