Hi my manual FL2 has started with a gear box problem, when i am in fourth gear and go to change to fifth the gear leaver goes to far over to the right, and misses fifth gear, Its as if is going into a space for seventh gear. The first four gears are fine it just seems to be fifth and sixth. It did in once last week where it got stuck in the seventh gear position, i had to stop the FL for about a minute put the box into neutral after that it was fine back to normal, untill today. Any ideas anyone as to what the problem could be ? |

This has happened before, is there not a solenoid on the gearbox to stop you accidently, if you go to far to the left and select reverse, the solenoid stops you and many have said that they have to come to a stop before they can select a gear again and carry on.

the solenoid is about £100 for landrover to change it. Mine started with the same problem and it was just a loose wire to the solenoid which a jiggled abit and it cured the problem. Its common for them to be loose after the heater recall freelander 2 SE black and beige - now sold |

s7gpt: you say a loose wire, can the wire be pushed back in then ? is it a hard job to get to the solenoid ? |

its very easy, just take the top of the gearstick off by twisting to the left ( if manual like mine ) and remove the fake leather cover / trim. inside is a grey connector and just re connect firmly, replace and try your gears again, worked for me http://www.justanswer.com/questions/1qn9j-...-be-fitted freelander 2 SE black and beige - now sold |

Hi all. i have had a look today and the only Grey connector i can see is down the right hand side ( sat in drivers seat) near the back ( away from the TR switch) with three wires coming out of it, its hard to get to with your hand. I have tried to push it back on but it feels lose and the problem is still intermittently happening. Am i looking at the right connector ? Any one got any pictures ? I was thinking of getting a new solenoid does anyone know how much they are ? |
