Auto lights staying on??

My lights are always set to auto but they seem to stay on dipped even when it's sunny. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Cheers

It's not the best of systems, either too sensitive or not enough, then there is a delay built in to stop switching on and off with small light changes.
Maybe the sensor needs changing if it has only started playing up now, it's a dual sensor and shares with the wipers and is up by rear view mirror.

Sunlight seems to confuse the Auto Lights in the morning, you can be heading into the Sun, Fosters on and Visor down but your lights may well be on Question Some times if you happen to stop and you turn the engine off say getting fuel then restart they may remain off then Confused
But then they cannot detect Fog very well either Question

Agree on the fog front, they're not very good at it at all!

It's just a simple light sensor, in fog there may be light entering, and for obvious reasons there's a delay before they turn off when been switched on Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
