Hi Michael

Mirrors only fold in when you lock the car or you can press both L + R mirror buttons simultaneously to fold them .

Thumbs Up

same here,

Can you stop them folding in when you lock the car? Wouldn't want andbody to scratch the car when they have the caravan towing mirrors attached.

npinks,

good point about folding mirrors with towing extensions. When I fit my towing mirrors I have to be mindful of the mountings to make sure they don't touch the body work.

Yes - the auto folding option can be switched off or on, by your dealer.

Otherwise you have to open / fold manually - by pressing both buttons simultaneously.

My caravan mirrors are ok for them folding in, but by not giving me as a driver the option on whether I would want them too or not without going to the dealer has not been enough thought by LR.

I sometimes have wished my mirrors would have stay out as it means people don't park so close, no dents yet, but they has been a little paint transfered Rolling Eyes

thanks for that goldstone.

I agree about the choice of having them turned on or off, we shouldnt have to go to the dealer
for something like that.

by the way - the same applies for the auto locking (i.e. the doors lock automatically a few seconds after you enter the car and close the doors). This function can also be turned off / on by the dealer..........

I use Milenco towing mirrors and they don't cause any problems when the wing mirrors fold close. In fact it is a good job that they do otherwise on car ferries you would have to remove your towing mirrors for passengers walking past.

folding Mirrors on LR2 in US?

Hmm,
after reading this thread I went out to the parking lot and tried it and it doesn't do anything. I tried with the engine on and off and/or the ignition just on, etc. and got nothing.

Is this a European feature only on the Freelander 2? I don't even see anything listed in the owners manual for my LR2.

it would be sweeeet if we had that feature. Helps out in those crowded ugly parking lots in the US Mad

I think mine are the Milenco mirrors,

They screw on to the top of the mirror housing and are held onto the housing by the little rubber feet and a rubber strap that attaches the the bottom of the mirror housing.

anyway they work fine

Hi npinks,

yes they are the ones - provide full vision along both sides of the van - brilliant.

to U2 Fan,

I read about the auto features (mirrors & door locks) in the manual & my dealer confirmed them.

I would be surprised the US versions do not have the same functionality...... Thumbs Up

Expect the only way forward is to ask your dealer

Think its UK / Europe only ..page 81 in the manual ...your meant to have all that space so you don`t need it !
