Hi all, my lovely FL2 is nearly 3 years old ,and we have decided to pay the final payment and keep her as we have been sooooo happy with her. My question is ......are there any issues that i need to get addressed b4 she is 3 and out of warrentee,
we have had the heater recall/mod done and the garage is going to replace the drivers seat belt as its frayed,
she has just had a major service ,pads all round ,brake fluid change and her 1st MOT that lot cost nearly £800 ouch.

I think any recalls should be honoured regardless of warranty,
Mine has recently turned 3 and one job I wish I had done before the warranty ran out was the rubber seals around the wheel arches because they look as they are comming away from the arches and look a bit untidy.

None, if it was a main dealer servicing, they will have done all the recalls etc. Mine got done this month and there were no issues, no recalls, no updates. There are various issues on the ToPix web site, but in honesty, these are faults you'd know about if you had them. Failing that, take a 9 quid subscription for a day and look at all the stuff online and print off what you need.

Mine has been out of warranty since Jan 2010 and to be fair it's been fine. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Give that man a Coconut, you saved over 660 quid so far. So many of us hyperventilate when we think the car is going out of warranty that we panic into taking out an unnecessary expensive crappy warranty. If a car costing 30k cant last longer than 3 years without anything major happening, we are in trouble.

Touch wood and fingers crossed and all that, but mine has also been out of warranty since Jan 2010 and has been fine, only problem with flat battery which wasn't the cars fault, water in the tow bar electrics!  Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

Tell you something that might be worth a think if you are not covered by the manufacturers warranty anymore.

Get AA breakdown, roadside, at home and recovery. Also add an AA insurance that covers you for the first 500 quid of a breakdown, minus a 25 quid excess. You can claim 5x per year. All this for a cost of 153 quid.

NOW if you register via topcashback site and click on the AA link and do it like that, you can get 50 quid back, so all this cost you is 103 quid. It's a compromise, but takes the sting out of things a bit. It even covers car batteries.

I know where I live, even when working off the LR warranty and breakdown, I end up with the AA coming out to me, they must sub contract them. It was a patrolman that told me to do it that way.
