I have applied for 2 tickets to the opening ceremony and 2 tickets for the athletics finals on the 5th of August which includes the very popular 100m final.

If I got both the total price is £550 but frankly my chances of getting either are laughable  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Am I right in thinking that after you've applied for tickets it is a done deal depending on the ballot process.

If you just wanted to experience the Olympics and were not fussed what, it would make sense to bung your name in the hat for everything and hopefully you would be successful on something. However, how I read into the ticket process, there is also a mathmatical chance that you could be successfull on everything and whould therefore be faced with an almighty bill.

The fact that each person can apply for multiple tickets seems open to abuse too. For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

You mean when Lord Coe, David Beckham and the Government et al have had their free allocation, then the rest of us are expected to pay for their freebies? Makes you puke!

I didn't , however, just looking through the events that are still available for 2nd chance. Women's mountain biking is still available but at the higher price ticket, tempted to go for it, I'd still spend what I set as a budget, but will only be going to that event. hmmmm

It's a big fiddle. It seems that those who applied for large numbers of tickets £20-30k etc. got a few, anyone else nothing.

Just read in the paper today that of the 1.9million who applied for tickets, 1.2million didn't get a single ticket.

Why didn't they use the KISS method? We have tickets, you phone/email and buy ticket. All tickets sold!!

I work as a bus driver and my company has been awarded the contract for transporting the athletes and press to the events. They are sending drivers from all over the uk, so hopefully I get selected. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Got an email last week saying that I had been successful with my application.

Think I got tckets for football semi finals at Old Trafford. Younger son very pleased....

Not sure when we get confirmation though as I'm assuming this is what I won based on price.

Just hope it's two countries I have heard of......

Well Second Chance sales has been bit of a mess.

After a bit of thought, I decide its a bit too much to pay for just the 1 event, but I'll go online this morning, if the tickets I want are there I'll go for it, if not, oh well.

Took a while to get on, and all events I'd be interested in are sold out.

News has been reporting its bit chaotic and people just can't get on there.

So ticket money will now be spent on some drink, chocolate, car shampoo and treat my bike to some parts.
