Anyone know how to lift the gearchange gaiter away from it's surround? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

hook fingers in the chrome surround at the back so your fingers are pushing the gaiter under the chrome, pull up, be brave it wont break (shouldnt) At work

CG,
Many thanks. I've lubed the linkage underbonnet. Still clunky gearchange. Hope lube under the gaiter works. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Keep us informed how it goes Pegleg.
Must admit, I reckon the clunk is feeling closer (than under the bonnet) so fingers crossed.

Yorkshirerob,
Pulled up the gaiter just like CG said, so thanks to him. There is some NVH underneath which i removed and a ball under the gearshift. I gave it all a good lubing but it still clunks like you described. I relubed underbonnet also to no avail.
It's off too the dealers a week on Tuesday for a new DFM/clutch, so i'll compare it to the courtesy car which should be FL2. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound too promising.
Best of luck. Hope your dealer is better than mine!

Idea Don't know your FL2 MY but this could help:

Also you should check the following is correctly torqued: The ball pin on the transmission shift lever at the gearbox end may be loose. It should be torqued to 20Nm (+/- 3Nm). LR issued on the 26th April 2010 a SSM 44149 - Symptom: Customer reporting gearshift linkage does not operate freely - partially sized or stiff.
