Start problem

Has anyone else had this problem? A week last tuesday evening, jumped in car inserted fob and did normal start procedure, everything worked apart from starter, message in info centre steering column locked, tried moving steering wheel from side to side, no joy. Pushed fob to undock it, spat fob out, landed on floor (never done this before) Tried starting procedure 2-3 more times, same result, but undocked fob as normal these times. No1 son came out said try disconnecting battery, we did for a few minutes, re-connected battery, all worked fine, trip miles had re-set to zero and average mpg re-set. Rang dealer at York, earliest date to book in 26th march. Unfortunately this tuesday it happened again, mid-day this time, same message, but steering not locked. Tried start procedure a few times disconnected battery, still nothing. Called land rover assist, man in an AA van turned up, tried allsorts eventually got it going, said he didn't know how, suggested taking it to dealers. Took it to Hull dealership, sorted hire car and came home. Day after diagnostics came up with faulty instrument panel, warranty approved the work, picked car up tonight, all ok. Only difference is, had car since last October, best mpg ever before this has been39.2. Trip to Hull 43.5mpg on tuesday, trip to Bridlington tonight 42.6mpg. See if its ok this tuesday Exclamation Ian

was a common fault on earlier cars, mines 2008 and has never done it. although it does often refuse to grip the key first push

Glad to see the fops at York where as helpful as usual Rolling Eyes At work
