New Freelander due end of May

Hi all, sadly I have to wave farewell to my 2008 model. Do the new ones perform as well? I was told to beast mine when running her in, and I'm worried that the less powerful TD4 may be disappointing? Any comments or advice? Indus Silver

Running in a new car for the first 1000 miles is the most crucial time in the vehicles life. The engine is "tight" and needs to be gently run in. Presumably "beast in " means driving it as hard as possible, all I can say is whoever told you that has absolutely no idea about engines/cars or anything else to do with motoring.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Hi Cerdo

like you I went from MY08 to MY11 GS manual.

Absolutely no complaints about engine change - new one much better all round! It night be less powered HP wise but torque is better and you notice it!

Take a test drive! There's always a way forward!

Thanks Drowned. I'd been told it had more torx, but I wasn't sure. I'll just wait for the surprise as it's a done deal. Had a new Disco a few weeks back, now that was torquey. Indus Silver
