Just noticed Aldi selling alloy cleaning kits again. Bought them last time and very good value. The cleaning brush supplied is excellent for cleaning between spokes of SE wheels and chemical is good too. All FL2's (3) Gone

On my previous car (Toyota Celica) I had the alloy wheels stripped and repainted.

I asked their advise on how best to clean them.

Their answer was to only use a product that you would be happy to use on the rest of the car.

The caution was that most alloy cleaning products are quite aggressive and will eat away at the wheel surface.

And that was from the owner of a company where all they do is refurbish alloy wheels. 2002 Honda VFR800

I have used "wonder wheels" in the past.
Very aggresive, I left the paint brush I had used in the glass jar with the liquid, a week later all that was left was the bristles and wooden handle, the metal had completely gone.

Too aggressive for my liking, back to soap, sponge and elbow grease

I expect to pick up my GS next week did a bit of searching around for a good wheel sealant and ended up getting a tin of FK1000p I have put it on my ST and the missus's Mini's wheels to try it out. both cars didn't get a wash for a fortnight but the wheels cleaned up brilliant with warm soapy water not a speck of tar stuck to them.You can also do the paintwork with this stuff so used the ST as a test bed gave the bonnet a coat, the rain just slides off well impressed.

I normally clean the car(s) and wheels with stuff called 'Showroom Shine' - doesn't need water.

I have used it for about 4 years and love it - so quick to do spray on, wipe it over with one microfibre cloth then polish with another. Job done  2002 Honda VFR800

Got that in the garage too excellent when your in a hurry one guy on the valeters forum reckons the FK lasts a good few months because of its high temperature properties.
