Guys,

It can be done - it has been done on several FL2 cars in Cyprus by the LR Dealership in Nicosia (including mine). They use a customized welding part which attaches on the seat. I have taken pictures of said part, if you would like to see them.

Here are the pictures as promised. This was created by a welder in Cyprus who is working closely with Landrover Cyprus. In my honest opinion, these bases are actually sturdier than the ones produced by Landrover themselves

How the procedure was described to me, as I didn't see it happening (excuse some bad English, it's not my native language):

The silver pivot part is provided by Land Rover as a replacement/accessory. I don't know if it comes on every armrest replacement as a whole or individually - need to look it up.

The silver pivot is then welded on the black metal base, as you can see from the welding connections on the 2nd picture's left connector base.

The metal base itself is a square steel, with four screws on each corner.

The seat leather/fabric is lifted up from the seat underside until a metal arch about halfway (mentioned above by another forum member) is exposed.

That arch has four screw points on it, matching exactly the size of the black metal base you see in the picture - the metal base is then screwed on using the washers/bolts seen.

The seat leather/fabric is then stretched back in place. and a small hole is made on the leather/fabric to accommodate the silver pivot.

The original armrest is then attached to the pivot, completely concealing the hole made. The armrests behave the same way as installed on the HSE model - full movement up/down, micro-adjustment using the knob on the armrest itself.

Job done!

Im pretty sure older car do not have the interior brackets to fit these, maybe MY10 and up?, so check carefully if your thinking of buying At work

They fit over a boss and bolt on. The armrest then screws up and down to adjust. Can supply as many as needed in any colours.

a fellow in Holland paid quite a lot of cash to have the internal brackets fitted to his seat about 3 yrs ago At work
