Which vote LR/RR worst brand for reliability

As the owner of 8 LR's over the last 10 years I have had very few reliability issues but according to Which they are the worst for reliability Shocked

Land rovers sales figures speak for themselves. I wouldn't drive anything else. Spend all day driving coaches so its a pleasure to get into my fl2 at end off the day.

Mmm. Reliability surveys, filled in by people that want to make a point, aren't they?

Subaru have always "Had bullet proof reliability" so why then did I have a Forester that had an ECU issue that meant it kept going into limp mode. They took that one back and the replacement did the same thing. Wasn't just mine, every single Forester XT has the some potential problem. Subaru UK did not do a general recall on the fault and will only update if the error become apparent.

Had a Rover 214 that the seat kept breaking apart from that rock solid. Mondeo, never let me down, Galaxy, problems with the climate control, 120d, Climate, Bluetooth problems, Forester (see above!), Smax dent on the roof, loosing power cruising, Freelander Moving seat.

The only one that has reliability issues is the Forester... The other things a nuisance value rather than reliability TBH. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

I started this topic but I spoke too soon Embarassed

My love of Land Rover/Range Rover may be over. After 10 years/8 Vehicles without complaint it appears TATA have ruined everything Big Cry

In the past problems were resolved under warranty without fuss - not so now Shocked

1. 10 years ago my dealer advised me my tyres were wearing unusually on my FL1 and replaced them - I had not even noticed. Now on the RRS I have had for 3 months and reported to them a month ago they tell me it is a characteristic and if I want tracking/balance/tyres checked I need to pay for them. I had done 1000 miles and it had 6500 miles on when I bought it and they are the continental tyres that everyone knows about Confused

2. I reported the LED was not working in a rear door 2 months ago and this should have been sorted on the last 2 dealer visits but was forgotten. They now tell the wiring is missing and not covered by warranty as they can not send back defective parts because there are none Exclamation

3. A month ago I had a warning light regarding "lean when cornering" so took RRS to dealer for diagnostic. They advised me they needed to send report to LR for authorisation then order parts and book car in for 2 days. Two weeks later they took car away and brought it back with the same story and nothing done. Yesterday they took it back again and now claim they can not find a problem so no action will be taken despite seeing the warning and logging it on the diagnostic on both earlier inspections Mad

4. 2 months ago I noticed a defect in the paintwork to a rear door. This was also forgotten on the last 2 visits and is now awaiting authorisation. It appears panel seal was not cleaned off prior to spraying when built - but this is verbal and will probably be denied Rolling Eyes

5. I had to battle for assistance in July when my FL1 clutch failed a month out of warranty despite problem being reported under warranty and eventually received offer of 50% goodwill compensation but 11 weeks later I am still awaiting payment Yawn

During the last month my RRS has had 3 trips to the dealer, added 150 miles, wasted 6 gallons of diesel and they have not corrected any problems yet. Now call me stupid but on a £53000 vehicle, (twice what I spent on my last FL2), I thought the service/vehicle would be better. Almost all of those issues sound like problems with the dealer rather than being influenced by Tata though.

The point about the wiring not being covered under warranty is utter balls, when we used to get a mis-build in at the Ford dealers I worked in we used to have to add in the extra equipment under warranty, if they need to rewire the car to fix it then so be it, we did it when needed. Blue

I don't believe it........ Shocked

My RRS has finally gone in for paintwork and wiring to be sorted after LR customer service told me they were speaking to dealer management Very Happy

LR refused to cover wiring under warranty because it was missed on PDI but selling dealer has agreed to pay for this Confused

I just hope this is the end of 5 months of excuses and zero service Sad

Apparently my cheque went missing for clutch and will be handed to me when my RRS is returned on Friday Rolling Eyes

Incidentally the results of my polls show everyone with FL2 disagrees with which but 23% of RRS owners agree - would be 26% but I can,t change my vote Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

This is exactly my issue with the absolute rubbish handsfree phone system. I have never used a system that is so completely useless but there is nothing wrong with it despite being on the phone in the car to the service dept this week & having to abandon the call as the distortion/sound quality was so bad till I stopped & parked up so as to phone when disconected from the car which was then perfect.
When you call a number that is engaged & you press the "EXIT" or end call button it does end the call except on the display where it still displays "Dialing 07900 ******" & cancels out when it feels like it but no matter what button you press you can't clear the display.
Phone is supposed to auto connect but it only does this 50% of the time. My answer is there is something wrong with the system in general but LR simply say the bluetooth is fine.
A guy at LR got in contact with the company who makes the kit & I was asked loads of questions over several weeks to be told the bluetooth is fine, fine it maybe but there is a fault with the system somewhere but is is completely POINTLESS taking it in yet again to the dealers as all they will do is pair it up with one of their generic phones & if it sounds ok when they do it they will simply park it up outside & say no fault found. This issue has made me so p***** off with the car it is unreal.
One dealer (Guy Salmon Maidstone) said they would & supposedly did replace the bluetooth module but when I collected the car the service manager stood next to me & I made a call on the car. The result was just as bad as before. He then said he would file a technical report to LR - after ME calling them several times as they didn't call me even after me leaving messages nothing ever materialised & I don't think LR were given a report & I don't believe the module was changed either as when I rang customer relations & gave my car details they had no record of an exchange unit.
The same guy that I was on the phone to from LR this week has finally admitted there is a characteristic of the FL2 manual with that annoying lag sensation when changing gears - I don't believe this is simply that, I would have thought a software upgrade would cure it but that is something else I have got to live with. He also said there had been numerous complaints about this issue.

Customer service is dreadfull to say the very least & this is one reason I am looking for the cheapest place to service the car as I am not prepared to pay even with discount £350 for them to change the oil & filter & a pollen filter which is on many cars 3 years anyway then hope they are bothered enough to check the brakes & the tightness of a few nuts etc. 1st service takes 2.1 Hours so where do they get nearly £400 from? It sounds like you've either got a faulty bluetooth module or there is some other connection/wiring issue in the system - probably now very difficult to find. The bluetooth in our July 2010 HSE works perfectly and sound quality is excellent. It connects to several different phones and all of them work fine - even if they are not on the LR supported list. Other than a DAB radio issue the car has been 100% so far and is the best car (out of 50+) I've ever bought. Mind you it was also the most expensive. 2010 HSE Auto in Santorini Black/almond with xenons and privacy glass.

After 7 months of problems it looks as though I finally got everything sorted and I am pleased to say LRCS and Stratstone are trying to make it up to me Thumbs Up

Last week I got 2 bottles of wine and a golf umbrella from Stratstone who to be honest caused most of the problems Confused

Today I received a very nice hamper from LRCS who have also rang me weekly to update me on progress and chase Stratstone on my behalf. I would especially like to thank Colin for his help Bow down

I may buy another LR after all if this is a sign things are improving again Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I too have eventually had a good response though I think Laura who has dealt with the dealer & myself was a senior member of staff at LR. As a goodwill gesture due to the extreemly poor service recieved from LRCS & LRRC I had my service free of charge & a helpfull contribution towards a new vehicle. Also I had personal service from the Service Manager who actually took the time to listen! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I disagree with Which. It is the best car I have ever had and the one I have fewest faults with. The LR dealers could be better though.
