United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Firenze Red

Hi guys, over the past week I've had 2 air vent knobs break off, the left hand passengers side and left hand drivers one (centre). In both instances the silver plastic handle has split.

I've read several posts on this problem, but for 2 to "fail" in a week seems to suggest a production fault.

Apart from buying 2 from a dealer has anyone attempted to get Land Rover to replace, the cars out of warranty?

Cheers

John

As far as I am aware you can't buy just the knobs, you have to buy the whole vent. So yes, looks like LR knew it was going to be an issue! Laughing

Visited Pentland Elgin this afternoon who confirmed that I would need to purchase 2 new units, which together with fitting would cost around £200 !!

To say I'm not happy is an understatement.

As my wife said for such a cheap part to be fitted to a supposed prestigious vehicle is just penny-pinching. Especially as Land Rover on sell you a complete replacement unit.

I've tried to fix the knob back in place, but failed so am left with no other option than to cough up the money Mad

Just looked at the prices and the two vents come to £140 plus vat. I think it is a fairly straight forward swap for the centre vet, not sure about the side vent, so the price doesn't appear too bad. But as you say, it shouldn't happen to a vehicle that is only a few years old.
