Land Rover Store (Hammonds)

Orderded a set of 19" Shadow Chromes online at Land Rover Store, recieved confirmation email confirming i had ordered Shadow Chromes and price paid. Today a set of Triple Sports arrived, called Hammonds and they first said the photo on site was wrong. I told them the confirmation email stated SC's so they changed story to having made a mistake with price on their website and the SC's where now £1500. Awaiting a second call back, will update you all to next stage. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

I am sure there is laws in place covering this, somebody might be able to point you in the right direction, maybe your house insurance/bank accounts legal cover could help you in the event of them playing hardball Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

the fact that you have confirmation of what you bought and how much you paid is in your favour.

There are many misconceptions as to consumer laws as proven by the people who keep quoting the supply of goods and services act on the forum, That old myth that if an item had a sign on at a certain price they must honour it-not true they can withdraw it from sale for any number of reasons (they don't need to issue a reason) one being it was erroneously price marked, Unfortunately I think in the case in question only a matter of goodwill will make them honour the contract, they are within their rights to issue a refund including postage and withdraw the Shadows from sale at the earlier price. Twisted Evil

Any minute now......call watchdog.....trading standards........consumer direct etc... blah blah
They can't be forced to do anything by any one except them selves to save face/reputation and this is the line i would go down Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

^^^^^ He's right.

Although, you are within your rights to make them arrange collection of the goods at a convenient time. For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

I'm reasonably sure that if you have an order confirmation, and they have taken the money from your account, and you can demonstrate (should it get that far) that your genuine belief was that the price the item was sold at was genuine, they're required to fulfil their side of the contract - essentially once they've taken your money it's different from "pricing mistake, sorry but we can't sell it at that price".

Where it gets a bit murky is the age of the internet with instant order confirmation, coupled with where the store can claim a genuine and obvious error i.e. 42" Plasma TV advertised and confirmed for £9.99 instead of £999 because to any reasonable buyer it's obvious it's an error.

Many sites have a disclaimer burred somewhere within, which in essence states that they can make honest mistakes on pricing and not honor them.

Found this on a consumer forum

"There are a few few points to keep straight which affect what happens.

Invitation to treat
Offer
Acceptance

Products placed on a website are an 'invitation to treat' not an 'offer' and as such are not capable of being 'accepted' so there is no contract until you make an offer by placing them in the cart and providing payment details and the store accepts your offer by taking funds from your card.

There is also a 'get out' clause for automatic payment systems that gives an online store a resonable period to notice the error and correct it if their system processes payments without human intervention. This period ends when they ship the goods though."

By the way the SC's where advertised at price I paid for at least 2 weeks before i placed order 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Result!

Update - over weekend I sent Hammonds a copy of cached webpage from time of order and received phone call and email this morning saying Hammonds accept responsibility and will collect TS's at time of delivering my SC's.
Now i'm happy to be getting what I ordered, will be even happier when they arrive. Good job Hammonds for sorting the issue out. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Probably a good idea to change the thread title then, as if they have come good it could be seen as slander. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

I once got 7 pork joints for either 1p or 2p each at Costco's as the were priced up at 1p/Kg

Bought 2 first and had no problem, went back in and got the last remaining 5 joints, a little chat with the store manager it was roast pork on the table for quite a while Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

might be an idea to look at SOGA website. SWMBO bought some earings at 1.99 they were real diamond studs RRP £199 the young spotty assitant had the decimal point inthe wrong place.. she was with her mate and only bought one pair Big Cry however the shop changed the price on the earrings faster than the £2 came out of the purse shame though i would have bought the shops whole stock and mad a hansome profit.

good t see hammonds capitulated Thumbs Up
