Hi guys,

My brakes seemed a little slack yesterday so upon checking them, it appears I will need new pads & discs (got a big lip on my current discs)

How much am I looking for to replace them all ?

Any recommendations on new one's or just go with what the garage recommend ?

if under warranty, whether original or extended then i would suggest OEM LR Parts

i can't recall the exact figure but my first FL2 was about £300+ for pads all round at the dealers, i don't recall that including disc, but i do know i thought robbing mother afterwards as they cost more than the service it was in for

look towards a independent garage to keep costs down Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Fit them yourself, you should be able to do it all in for about £200 ( new pads and disks all round ) its really not a big job, have always done brakes on my cars as cant stomach what garages charge for such a simple task freelander 2 SE black and beige - now sold

Its gonna cost you round about 600 notes at a landrover garage, an independant arround 400 notes or if you do them your self about 200 to 250 for the parts.
If you know anything about cars and how they work then it will be a breeze for you to do. Its self satisfaction and you save a bundle into the bargain, I think its disgusting how much dealers rip off the public for simple tasks. Best of luck on what you decide to do and how much you spend.

EBC Direct are £129 front discs (pair) £48 pads, £97 rear discs (pair) £26 pads. Shouldn't take long to fit and should be relatively straight forward. I changed my front discs & pads on my previous car in around 2 hours. I seem to recall if you type in SCOOBY58 in the discount code box you get 10 or 15% discount too. I just tried it and came to a total price of £278.

I've phoned a local independant 4x4 specialist & they have quoted me £165 for all pads (inc labour) & will check the discs out incase they dont need to be done. He said it will be an extra £120 on top plus a little extra labour if discs are required as well (£300 ish I reckon).

From the prices quoted above, I might as well get it done at a garage as I wouldnt be saving much by doing it myself.

I had mine done in May 2010 by one of my local LR dealers. I was charged £465.00 inc VAT for all discs and pads. I could source all the genuine parts myself for about £350 so could not be arsed to do it myself.

I didn't mind paying for the dealer to do it, as I got 39000 miles out of my first set so had them done with OEM parts and don't expect to have to do them ever again whilst I have the car. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather.
