Presumably you have turned the key fully before 'push and twist'. Once it is unlocked, the release knob needs a really good push as far as it will go before turning it. If it is the LR badged Brink, tilt the towball up and pull towards you to remove it whilst hold the release knob fully turned against its return spring.

will try this ,can you get the key twist bit out of sequence ? seemed to be no resistance on the black handle/knob

It's a sign ... nothing beats a fixed towbar system Thumbs Up

Witter Thumbs Up
Have had the same removable version on three FL2s - so nearly 9 yrs . It got stuck once - lack of internal lubrication . Luckily managed to shock the mechnism to disengage with tap from a hammer. Since then I give it a shot of spray grease every now and then - its quite runny before the solvent evaporates giving good penetration into the internal bits.

Have you tried shock tactics ? Jules
