When I start the Car the Bluetooth sends a signal to my phone to ask for connection.
I press the yes button and car says I am now connected.
Every other couple of minutes a Ping goes out to my phone to ask if I want to connect and yet again I press yes.
After 3 hours on the road my Battery on the phone is getting discharged.
When the device connects with my phone why will it not stay connected? does anyone know?
Also I give the command to download the Phone address book and the message comes on the dash to say it has been downloaded, nothing is in the directory.
Got 3 phones not of which are listed by L/R, is there a software upgrade for more modern phones?
Is there a way of disconnecting bluetooth so that I can install my own working variety? Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables.

I don't know as I haven't got my FL yet but surely you can just delete the car bluetooth pairing on your phone so it doesnt try and connect. I'm guessing there must be a way to unpair form the car end too but like I wouldn't know that.
 For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

I was hoping that there was a reason for the not keeping connected so that I can use one of the phones even though they are not listed. Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables.

Your phone should be set up as discoverable (sounds like it is) and should be able to be "paired" with the car's bluetoooth system. Have a look at your phone manual to check on how to set up "pairing" so that you don't get the request on your phone every time you drive it.

Essentially the car is finding (discovering) your phone every time and is asking the phone to verify itself for bluetooth connection and when set up properly the connection should be automatic.

The reason the phone battery is draining so fast is that the continual bluetooth radio activity (connection request) is draining the battery as it will do in most phones.

The solution is to get the pairing working so that the connection requests stop - your phone manual would be the first point to double check, but I'm afraid that not all phones are so good at this.

I have an iPhone and it works seamlessly, but my previous HTC Touch diamond was so bad I gave up.

And weirdfish is right -cancelling the pairing, turning off bluetooth on the phone, or making your phone undiscoverable on the phone will stop all the requests plus make a boost to your battery life.

And while you're at it, if all you do is talk on your mobile, set it to 2G only - that will boost battery life too.

Sorry for a quick thread hijack, but anyone know if HTC desire will pair up ok? For a free country, it does seem pretty expensive these days.

HTC Desire has worked ok for me, no problems at all......Do you know about the bit of the LR website where you put in part of your vin and it advises you as to the status of phone models, by make, then model? Look for Bluetooth on the site.... Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Have now set the phone to connect automatic on request from the car.
None of my phones are listed on LR website, yet 2 of the 3 are regognised by the Cars Bluetooth.
I think I may have solved the problem of the phonebook not showing...while I was looking for the Bluetooth on the phone I came accross "sharing details" or something like that where you share the phones address book with anothe device on Bluetooth.
Just got to try these new found tricks out tomorrow.
