What is the best off roader?

Assuming all vehicles come with the tyres they are fitted with at the factory and are driven by an expert over various conditions such as thick mud, snow, wading etc. What is the best off roader?

The FL2 is awesome as seen at LR day but is hindered by a relative lack of ground clearance. Toyota Land Cruisers are highly rated but what about discos and rangies? There are other brands of course but the ultimate vehicle is apparently the Defender.

So guys, start the debate Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

if i won the lottery i would dig deep and get myself a bowler nemesis - they do a road going version with stereo aircon etc etc, awsome!

if it were purley off road i'd go for the wildcat 200 -

do you see a pattern emerging! Laughing

parked in my shed, not mine but available for trips if the snow does get a bit too deep. Although to be honest I would just use a tractor.

How about a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon G-55 AMG

A snipe at around £115,000.....

I'v have had SII, SIII, Defener 300Tdi and TD5
excellent off road but not much better than the FL2's
& hell they are rot boxes.

A G55 off road...?! Don't think so somehow!

Problem with a defender is it can get crossed up...as there's no locking/cimulated locking diff on the rear, just in the centre.

My local dealer told me that the best off roader that LR make is the D4, cos it's the newest car with the best tech Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
