Yes, all TD4 engines are the same between trim models other than the SD4

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Zermatt Silver

I have an 07 s very pleased with it. Handled very well in the snow and ice we had, you don't need the terrain response if you can drive properly Mr. Green Took it up to Scotland at Xmas minus 10 and a foot of snow was no prob. I was the only one on the roads/hills where we were. 2007 TD4 S Zermat Silver, maual, panoramic sunroof, rear headrest entertainment system, towbar for trailer.

2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Stornoway Grey

We've got an S and it is v good, coped well in the snow. Don't worry about Terrain Response, it's for light weights. Also, with fewer electronic gizmos, there is less to go wrong on an S. Suggest you don't mention the dreaded 'Chrome' word on here by the way!

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey

My S is superb off road, standard rims, but GG AT2s, and it was bloody good with the standard tyres on also Thumbs Up but I wouldn't take yours seriously off road with 19" low-pros. Just asking for knackered rims there. Big Cry We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

I didn't buy one because it had no cruise control. Even on the auto. Got a better spec manual with cc for the same price. If cruise control is not important to you then I'd go for the S.

But you can retro the Cruise control on an S.

10forcash charges roughly 75 quid including the steering wheel control.

If I had known then what I know now!
But actually I like the manual very much, AND it has the advantage of not being black, and having Terrain Response means I have less need to remember how to drive in snow. Smile
So I made the right choice.

I am biased of course but I prefer the GS model. What Car? has the same conclusion. The TR dial is useful no matter how good you are, even LR experience day bloke said that. It has the nicest wheels IMO and has just the right amount of equipment for most. HSE owners have the most equipment but more to go wrong and things like heated seats are not necessary with cloth seats.

The best thing I did though was adding the cold climate pack for a mere £250. Heated windscreen and washer jets are a bloody god send in frosty and snowy weather. Front foglights are standard on GS upwards too and better audio system and cruise control. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
