England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Indus Silver
Land Rover Experience Day, Honiton

Hi Guys

Had the great pleasure of a free half day Land Rover experience in Honiton thanks to Kim @ lookers in Colchester. What a fantastic 3 hours. Following a quick classroom chat we went out to the Freelander2 and was able to ask any questions about the car (including a quick demo of how to get in the car if the keyfob is flat) then it was off to the grass slopeing field. This whole exercise was to show how the car performed differently with each terraine response and with and without the DSC. Coming down the slope with DSC switched off and then steering full lock was quite unnerving as the car just slid all over the place. With DSC on, was easily controlable and powering out a delight.
Next we had some fun on a steep pot holed (like most normal roads now!) and graveled track trying hill starts with the 3 second delayed braking and using the outstanding hill decent function. The last part of the day was driving around the woods using all the techniques we had learnt and experiencing just how good the 4 wheel drive system is.
I would recommend one of these days to anyone and still have a big grin across my face Very Happy Very Happy

Had some Tesco vouchers so we used them to get a half day here. Same kind of format though we spent very little time on the grass and more time on the tracks through the woods, which were very muddy after a week of rain. Really showed off the capabilities of the Freelander on rough terrain.
Rob, the instructor gave plenty of tips on off-road techniques and we didn't get stuck once. He did admit that we weren't using all the tracks that the disco's, RRS's and defender's used but that was only due to the slightly lower ground clearance of the Freelander and the lack of air suspension and it's "stuck" mode.
All in all a great experience and well worth it for anyone who's driving a 4x4. Thumbs Up
