cheap steel wheels and tyres

I am looking for a set of four steel wheels and tyres to replace my alloys for this winter. i intend taking the alloys off and storing them to try and keep them in good condition and want some cheap wheels and tyres to use. I haven't clue about sizes etc so any help would be appreciated. Like i say as cheap as possible!

eBay often has steel wheel FS often about £50ish for 1

Might be better getting a battered set of GS alloys and shove your own winter/AT tyres on instead of trying to find a good set with tread Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

A quick search came up with these....maybe too pricey for you by the way you explained what you want but your car will still look great all throughout winter Thumbs Up

If your looking for winter tyres AndyC says smaller wheels are used

If your looking towards maybe All Terrain tyres for playing in the mud too look to see what the best price is for tyres as normal tyres cost more per inch Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Buy a copy of Landrover Owner International mag, usually load of ads for wheel / tyre packages for off roading, snow etc.... Also quite a good read if you like Land Rovers.

Boof.

There are several adverts on the forum for wheels/tyres for sale.

If you live near South Devon, then I have 4 alloys with just legal tyres that you can have.
They are 235.65.17 Contis. They main thing is the 4 alloys are 17" and in near perfect condition.

Collection only.

I'm in the same boat, looking for some 16" wheels so that I can put snow tyres on them and keep my 17" alloys in good condition. Would be more than happy with steel wheels or alloys, infact just lost out on ebay on 4 16" alloys Crying or Very sad

Does anyone know where I can buy some steel wheels online? It's slightly more difficult as I live in France and getting them here becomes a problem.

Cheers

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Don't know if this helps but someone suggested to me that the steel spares supplied by Land Rover were not as strong as the alloys due to the fact that they are of a lighter construction than old fashion steel wheels. On mine there are copious stickers warning me not to exceed n mph or nn miles. I assume that this is not just the Hankook tyre that is on it??

The Mondeo LX solution offered by Druand sounds excellent - there must be lots of those around. Why settle for 70 profile tyres go for 85s and get a little lift - tried this on my FL1 and it made a real difference off road! There's always a way forward!

On checking my earlier post I see that I have not made the price clear.

I have four 17" alloys from my 2007 XS that I want to dispose of.

They are FREE to anyone who can collect from South Devon.

They have continental contacts on which are only just legal, but the alloys are in near perfect condition.

FREE, and maybe collector would make a donation to the Forum Site.

Does anyone know if these rims will fit my Freelander 2 and if so will I be able to fit 225/70/16 snow tyres on them?

Linky thing

Thanks in advance.
