Are you stuck-up, too?

Hi, Everyone!

I have tried searching for a previous answer but no luck and it's getting late... Sheep Sheep Sheep

During the very cold weather, over Christmas, three of my electric windows seized up and refused to open. At first I thought that this was a temporary glitch due to the very, very, low temperatures but as we are now in the middle of a thaw and the problem persists (apart from what sounds like a very small amount of movement down and then back up) I'm beginning to think the problem is more serious.

Does anyone know of a simple fix/reset or do I need to take it to the Dealer (a 100 mile round trip Sad ).

I rely on sound as much as sight for getting out on to the road so this is quite a serious problem for me.

Thanks for any advice.

Steve.

Try resetting the window lift ecu as per the manual,
ie, hold the switch in the up position for a couple of secs then try the same in the down position.
Failing that, disconnect the battery and retry the above. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I had this - I think it is caused by the ice freezing the window and it tripping. A window reset as described in the above post fixed it Thumbs Up . You should find instuctions in the manual and you will need to do it to each window that has the problem Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Sounds to me like a bigger problem as they should open once they defrost

Possible jammed in place or maybe the motors have been damaged by trying to open them

If the window reset doesnt work, check the fuses Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

My drivers window is stuck on my 2010 Freelander, all the other windows work OK. I have tried the reset with no joy.

As I don't believe in doing any work on a 6month old vehicle, I think a dealer visit is on the cards.

It took me a couple of times to do the reset, make sure you follow the procedure exactly as outlined below;

1. Close the window fully.
2. Release the switch, then lift it to the close
position and hold for two seconds.
3. Open the window fully.
4. Release the switch, then push it to the
open position and hold for two seconds.
5. Lift and release the switch to operate the
one touch function.
6. Repeat the procedure on each window. Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

There is a thermal trip on the motor; therefore the motor and fuses should be okay. There is also a anti-trap feature which means the motor will stop when it comes against unusual resistance, ie little fingers or indeed ice.
The ECU has probably lost it's 'full up' and 'full down' values which is why a resett often works. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Thank you, Everyone!

Everything is back to normal after following your reset advice.

Just for the record, the rear passenger window resolved itself and the driver's window worked first time with the reset procedure - as did the front passenger window once I realised that you have to use the dedicated switch and not the master controls on the driver's door panel...

Very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve.
