United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Rimini Red
Tyre Noise

Just got an "08" FL2 from Stratstone in Cardif. (My "57"plate was written off in July). The new motor has got 59,000 miles on the clock, but still drives well.
I am getting a "drone" between 25-30 MPH, then again at around 50 MPH, and again at 70 MPH. I have had Stratstone in Nottingham look at it and they said there was some Diff noise, and have fitted a new Diff today, without question, and it is without doubt quieter, but the "drone" is still evident. They say that the "drone" that I now have is down to "Tyre Noise".

The problem is that Stratstone fitted new "FULLRUN HS299" tyres before the sale !.

Has anyone got any experience of these tyres on the FL2 ?

From what I have read on the net they sound like a budget brand from China. Some guy on one forum said avoid at all costs and someone else has the ones you have got fitted and says they are okay. Doubt they are anywhere near as good as Wranglers though. Try these links for what others are saying about them: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=51695

And this quote seems apt:
"If you are considering buying these tyres purely based on price then please take my advice and spend your money on another brand. These tyres were on my car when i purchased it from dealer. The tread seemed to have plenty life left, however it soon became apparent that the tyres have dangerous levels of grip even in slightly damp conditions. Arrow The tyre noise at all speeds was horrendous. Exclamation I decided to replace the fronts and upon checking the inner tyre walls on both tyres, they were both found to be split around the entire circumference. I was lucky they had not blown out at high speeds. In summary avoid this brand of tyres at all costs.......be warned!! "
